POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Globe and Mail is seeking a full-time content editor to join the Programming team. This team’s mission is to ensure readers find The Globe’s journalism at a time, in a place and in a format that they want it in. Anticipating and listening to the audience’s needs as well as experimentation is core to what we do.
We are looking for an adaptable editor with strong news judgment who is able to make smart programming decisions across all platforms, including our website, newsletters, push alerts and newspaper.
This position will work in collaboration with senior editors across the newsroom, as well as the wider programming, editing, audience and visuals teams, to help determine which stories we should be prioritizing each day and how we should be promoting them. Your decisions in this role will be guided by gut instinct as well as a deep familiarity with which stories and topics resonate with subscribers. Knowing how to turn audience analytics into actionable insights is key.
The successful candidate must be a strong headline writer, avid news consumer and excellent multitasker. Previous experience directing coverage is an asset. So are bold ideas.

The Globe offers a hybrid work environment. This position requires some evening and weekend hours. It will be based in our Toronto office and you will be required to come into the office a minimum of two days a week.
SALARY: This position is classified as a Content Editor in Group C of the Editorial Collective Agreement.
